The Seeing Eye GPS is an iPhone app specifically designed for visually impaired users, offering a fully accessible turn-by-turn navigation experience. In addition to standard GPS features, this app provides functionalities tailored to enhance the navigation process for individuals with visual impairments.

Notable Features of The Seeing Eye GPS:

• The essential navigation elements (Route, POIs, Location) are readily accessible, located at the bottom of each screen without the need to navigate through multiple layers of menus.
• At intersections, users receive announcements regarding the cross street and its orientation, along with detailed descriptions such as the layout (e.g., four-way) and clock face orientation of the streets.
• Three options for Point of Interest (POI) data sources are available (Apple, Foursquare, OSM).
• Distinct directions for Pedestrian and Vehicle routes are provided, including timely alerts for approaching turns, current directions, and upcoming maneuvers.
• Automatic route recalculation and updated turn information announcement in case of deviation from the original path.
• The LookAround Wand feature allows users to point their phone in a specific direction to audibly identify nearby places of interest.
• Automatic announcements for nearby Points of Interest, intersections, and changes in direction.
• Capability to function in the background or with the screen locked on iOS 7 devices. On iOS 6 devices, only sound effects and vibrations for turns and destinations are provided without speech output, due to system limitations

Requirements:

• Compatible with iPhone 5, iPad Wi-Fi + 3G, iPad 2 WiFi + 3G, iPad Wi-Fi + 4G, iPad mini Wi-Fi + Cellular.
• iOS 9.0 or later version is required for optimal performance.

Additional Information:

• The Seeing Eye GPS utilizes the VoiceOver feature for audio voice output and does not include an independent voice synthesizer.
• Supported Maps include regions such as U.S., Canada, United Kingdom, France, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Lithuania, and Argentina. Note that not all countries offer complete intersection descriptions within the app.
